Ed Burstell is leaving Liberty of London to take up the newly-created role of head of partnerships at Canadian retailer Hudson’s Bay Company.
He will develop and lead partnerships for the retailer globally from 5 December.
“I am thrilled to join Hudson’s Bay Company, especially during this time of global expansion, growth in North America, and industry-leading developments across platforms” he said.
Burstell spent eight years as managing director at the iconic London department store, during which he established partnerships such as Liberty’s first collaboration and pop-up shops with Hermes and Manolo Blahnik as well as collaborations with Nike and Uniqlo. He was previously senior vice president of accessories, footwear, jewellery, cosmetics and fragrance at Bergdorf Goodman and general manager of Henri Bendel before that.
It is not yet known if a replacement has been appointed at Liberty.
Hudson’s Bay Company was founded in 1670 and is the oldest company in North America. It has ten fascisas, including Hudson’s Bay, Saks Fifth Avenue, Gilt and Galeria Kaufhof, with more than 470 stores and 66,000 employees around the world.
