Edun, the ethical fashion brand founded by Bono and his wife Ali Hewson and backed by LVMH, has appointed Sharon Wauchob to the role of creative director.
Wauchob has her own eponymous womenswear label and shows at Paris Fashion Week. She has also previously designed for Louis Vuitton. Wauchob is the second key appointment at Edun since French luxury brand house LVMH took a minority stake in the company in May. In September, Janice Sullivan became chief executive of the brand, joining Edun from Warnaco Group, where she was president of Calvin Klein Jeans.
Sullivan said the appointment of a new creative head was vital to drive growth at the brand and enable it to meet its potential. Edun produces menswear, womenswear, kidswear and accessories collections.
Founder Hewson added: “Sharon has the unique ability to blend her intimate knowledge of sourcing and product development to push the limits of design and craftsmanship. This talent is perfectly matched to Edun’s vision and values.”
Wauchob said: “I am inspired by Edun. It is much more than just a fashion label. Edun and its founders have a sincere message that allows me to design beyond the normal trends. I look forward to designing the spring 11 collection and working alongside such creative individuals.”
Wauchob will continue to live in Paris and design her own collection but will now also head up all aspects of Edun’s creative direction and design. Her first collection for Edun will be for spring 11. Edun will continue to be based in Dublin and New York.
