Ellesse to relaunch in the US

Footwear and sportswear company the Pentland Group, has named newly formed Ellesse NA as the exclusive licensee for footwear, accessories and apparel for its Ellesse brand in the US market.

The owner of supplier Pentland Brands, and parent company of megabrands Lacoste, Speedo, Kickers and Ellesse, is relaunching the Italian sportswear brand in the US in November 2012, following an eight year absence, with a line of technical tennis footwear which will initially be targeted at pro-shops and tennis clubs.

Former US tennis player is a minority shareholder in the newly formed Ellesse NA and will be involved in the design and marketing of the new product.

Following the launch of the tennis footwear a lifestyle collection is planned for the US for both men and women with footwear projected to account for around 40% of the overall business with a string of Ellesse shops also planned for the US in 2013.

Pentland USA president Sonny Shar said now was the right time for a relaunch of the label. “It is still a recognised brand,” he said.
