Entries sought for UKFE awards

The UK Fashion & Textile Export Awards 2010 has opened for entries.

The awards, which this year will recognise textile firms for the first time in the competition, will take place on May 13 at The Landmark hotel in London and are organised by UK Fashion Exports (UKFE), the export division of the UK Fashion and Textile Organisation (UKFT).

New categories include Contemporary Urban, in addition to the Textiles prize. The remaining categories include Designer Business, Heritage, High Octane Glamour, Lingerie/Beachwear, New Exporter and Small Business.

The UKFT will for the first time offer a cash prize to the winner of the small business category.

Drapers and womenswear trade show Pure London will sponsor the accessories category.

This year’s awards categories have been devised to reflect products that are in demand overseas and the sponsors’ prizes - which include trade show stands, press and marketing packages - will help winners develop their international trade. UKFT deputy director Paul Alger said being shortlisted for an award helped to tell the world the business is an international player.

The deadline to enter the awards is February 26.

Entry forms can be downloaded from the UKFE’s website www.ukfashionexports.com or are also available from Paul Alger at 020 7636 5577, or paul.alger@ukfashionexports.com.
