Eric Musgrave appointed Editorial Director of Drapers

EMAP, the content, subscription and networking business, today announced it has appointed Eric Musgrave as Editorial Director for Drapers, the fashion industry’s business bible.

Eric has over 30 years of experience in the fashion business and an international reputation as a leading authority on the global fashion industry. He began his journalistic career on Drapers Record, as it was then called, in 1980. He subsequently held senior editorial positions on a wide range of B2B titles, including Menswear, Fashion Weekly, International Textiles and Sportswear International. Eric was also launch editor of For Him Magazine (now FHM) the ground-breaking men’s style magazine.

Eric joined Emap in 2000 and led the team which merged Drapers Record and Menswear to create the modern Drapers in 2002. For this achievement he was named the Professional Publishers Association Business Weekly Editor of the Year and the Emap Business Weekly Editor of the Year in 2003. He left Emap in 2006 for a career as a fashion industry consultant and a freelance writer, during which time he has written an acclaimed pictorial history of men’s tailoring, Sharp Suits.

Today, Drapers continues to deliver must have content and industry insight to its subscribers and networking opportunities for industry professionals to meet, learn and celebrate.

Eric will begin his new position today and will report to Richard Breeden, Drapers’ Managing Director.

Eric Musgrave said:

“It is a great privilege to work for a brand such as Drapers, which has been an essential part of the fashion industry since 6 August 1887. It is an even greater privilege to lead the editorial team once again. I look forward to developing the multi-channel Drapers and enhancing its reputation across all sectors of our diverse fashion community.”

Richard Breeden said:

“I am delighted to welcome Eric back to the Drapers team to help accelerate the growth of this already industry leading brand. With our current focus on building deep and lasting relationships with our individual and corporate subscribers it’s an exciting time for Drapers. Eric is a born editor and a genuine authority on the business of fashion. He will be a huge asset to the team”.

  • Fantastic news...gotta love EM.....I really noticed the change in the content when he left years back.
Please please please can there be at least a small amount of genuine opinions / promo articles that aren't paid for...but are about labels/brands written on their own merit.

  • Hopefully this will give Drapers more of an independent view, rather than the PR and Spin we've had in recent years.
