German luxury womenswear brand Escada is collaborating with London-based designer Jonathan Saunders to create a collection for its Escada Sport label, according to reports.
The designer will design a capsule range of 20 pieces for Escada Sport as part of its resort 2012 collection. The collection will be available in November 2011 in both Escada and Escada Sport stores as well as from its wholesale partners.
The collection will be unveiled at presentations in London and Paris in June.
Saunders partnered with footwear brand Gola on footwear line in spring 08, with a six-style range of men’s and women’s casual shoes.
Escada was acquired in November last year by Megha Mittal, the daughter-in-law of steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal after it foled for insolvency in August. She has since introduced a number of measures to return the business to growth including new retail concepts for Escada and Escada Sport, lower entry price points and an increased assortment of daywear. She is alson expected to introduce menswear and kidswear.
Saunders said of the collaboration: “I think it’s a great fit as the line is about cool femininity, relaxed chic, modern shapes and color.”
