Evisu poised to close its New York headquarters

Premium denim brand Evisu is to close its New York headquarters and its global chief executive and creative director Scott Morrison will leave the business, it has been reported.

The Japanese firm will return its headquarters to Hong Kong, where its parent company Bestford is headquartered. Morrison, who founded denim brands Paper, Denim & Cloth and Earnest Sewn, joined the company in May 2009 and moved the company’s headquarters to New York in the same month.

Evisu owner hedge fund Indus Capital Partners, which has a majority stake in Bestford, has reportedly decided to exit the US business as part of a cost-cutting exercise.
