Ex-Baugur director seeking to invest in brands at LFW

Former Baugur director Aslaug Magnusdottir will scour London Fashion Week for possible investments for her new private equity fund, TSM Capital.

TSM Capital specialises in investing in designer businesses and made its first investment last week, taking a 22% stake in designer label Matthew Williamson for an undisclosed sum.

Magnusdottir said she plans to invest in 10 brands in the next three years through the TSM Capital fund, which was set up by Magnusdottir, former Bloomingdales chief executive Marvin Traub and Mortimer Singer, both of Marvin Traub Associates.

Magnusdottir said she was interested in speaking to several UK designers at LFW. "We're looking for a spectrum of brands and there is amazing talent in the UK," she said. "But we don't invest in start-ups. Companies need to turn over at least US$5 million (£2.5m) a year to be considered."

Magnusdottir left Baugur last year.

- LFW's ethical section Esthetica will be sponsored by Monsoon for the first time this season. Sponsorship will continue until autumn 08. The next edition of The Exhibition at London Fashion Week takes place on September 16-19.
