As previously revealed by Drapers Harte left Arcadia after almost 20 years in November.

Harte first joined Arcadia in 1997 as a general manager. He then progressed to area manager and then regional controller for Topshop and Topman.

He joined Miss Selfridge as retail director in July 2007 and was responsible for more than 280 stores and a retail team of 1,500 employees.

Harte’s appointment comes at an important time for Animal as it looks to expand its online experience and bricks-and-mortar offering.

CEO Dominic Langan said: “I have a clear strategic vision for Animal, the rebuilding of the brand and creating an engaging retail experience. I do not underestimate the task in hand, though, and the need for talented, experienced and driven individuals to help achieve these goals. I believe Gerry is a great fit, with a wealth of retail experience and motivated to deliver results.”
