New Look’s creative director Barbara Horspool is the latest director to leave the value business, followed by the retailer’s heads of buying and merchandising.
Horspool, who was lured back to New Look last year by founder Tom Singh, has left following the end of her 12 month contract. It is understood that Horspool will not be replaced.
Head of buying Nicky Wills and head of merchandising for womenswear David Barton have also left the business. Barton joined New Look in 1993 as assistant merchandiser, while Wills has been with the value retailer for about 10 years. It is unclear if Wills and Barton will be replaced.
Horspool said: “I have enjoyed an amazing five years at New Look helping to build a credible, respected and loved brand. Last spring, I committed a year to work with Tom Singh as creative director. I have really enjoyed working closely with everyone in buying, merchandising, design, marketing and retail. I wish [them all] great success in the future.”
New Look chairman Alistair McGeorge said: “I regret to confirm that Barbara Horspool, creative director, has decided to leave the business. Barbara has made a very valuable contribution to the business in the five years she has been with us.”
The high profile exits follow a string of departures at New Look, including former chief operating officer Will Kernan last December, ecommerce director Dom McBrien in October and group marketing director Joe Irons last August. Former chief marketing officer Nick Cross left in May and franchise director Alex Cara exited the chain in June.
