Exclusive: Lacoste appoints former Ugg boss as footwear CEO

Lacoste has appointed former Ugg managing director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Gianni Georgiades, as its new chief executive for its footwear division, Drapers understands.

Georgiades was most recently vice president of wholesale partnerships in Europe at Coach.

He will be CEO of the new Lacoste footwear joint venture with Pentland Group.

As previously revealed by Drapers the agreement sees Pentland and Lacoste take on 50-50 ownership of a capital-sharing venture, which will be based at Pentland’s London headquarters.

Pentland oversees design, production and manufacturing of Lacoste’s footwear globally as well as UK distribution, while Lacoste handles distribution in its main territories.

Pentland became the global licensee for Lacoste footwear in 1991.

Georgiades joined Ugg’s parent company, Deckers, in October 2010 as brand director of Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and was promoted to managing director of the region in 2012.

He joined Coach in August 2016.

Lacoste and Pentland declined to comment.
