Exclusive: Peter Ruis new job revealed

Former Jigsaw chief executive Peter Ruis is joining Anthropologie in the newly created role of managing director of international, Drapers can reveal.

Ruis will join the Urban Outfitters-owned retailer on 9 July and will look after all territories outside the US, Canada and China, Drapers understands.

He will report to president of Anthropologie group Andrew Carnie.

Anthropologie has 11 stores in the UK and more than 240 in the US. 

Drapers exclusively revealed that Ruis had left Jigsaw with immediate effect on 5 March. He joined Jigsaw in September 2013. 

Prior to that Ruis worked at John Lewis for eight years. He joined the department store chain in 2005 as head of menswear and progressed to the position of buying and brand director. 

Ruis started his career at Marks & Spencer in 1989 as a graduate trainee. He rose through the ranks to eventually become senior selector.

He was also previously head of product at Ted Baker and brand director of Levi Strauss across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
