Exeter House of Fraser to close

The House of Fraser store in Exeter is reportedly set to close in January.

According to website Devon Live, signs have appeared in the windows of the House of Fraser branch stating that it is to close in the new year.

The store was not on the original list of closures announced by Sports Direct, which included Edinburgh Frasers, Hull and Swindon. The House of Fraser in Bath is also expected to close its doors if an agreement with landlords cannot be reached.

The closure of the Exeter store means that the only remaining House of Fraser store in Devon and Cornwall will be located in Plymouth.

The Plymouth store had originally been expected to close under the company voluntary arrangement announced earlier this year, however it’s future has thought to have been secured.

Sports Direct has been contacted for comment.

  • Reporting that Exeter is closing but not even a mention of Cirencester and Shrewsbury closing, even though they were announced at the same time? I know they were announced on the CVA originally, but that was voided and it’s still news.
