Fashion East announces change of format alongside its line up

Up and coming designers Claire Barrow and Ryan Lo, have been selected to showcase their debut collections at Fashion East’s spring 13 show.

Fashion East, which nurtures up and coming designers, has announced a change of format alongside its line-up for spring 13, which will take place at a new venue, 50 St James in London. Maarten van der Horst will be returning to the initiative for a third and final season hosting a salon show, while Barrow and Lo will exhibit static presentations.

The line-up of new talent was chosen by a panel, headed by Lulu Kennedy, Fashion East’s director.

Kennedy said: “I love an unusual venue and 50 St James, with its various spaces, provides the perfect place to shake up our format. Ryan and Claire’s wonderful detailed work will be displayed in presentation rooms, while Maarten takes over the salon space for his final show with us. All three are brilliant.”

The non-profit project, which is now in its 19th season, receives sponsorship funding from Topshop to develop, mentor and showcase emerging new talent. It has been credited with launching the careers of designers including Richard Nicoll, Roksanda Ilincic and Jonathan Saunders. Next season’s Fashion East showcase will take place on September 15.
