Amazon.co.uk will double the amount of fashion products it will sell this week in the run up to Black Friday to two million products.
Speaking at the Drapers Fashion Forum 2014 today in London the vice president of fashion at Amazon Sergio Bucher has said the etailer has grown its fashion credentials at an “incredible rate”.
“We are investing in people and technology we are becoming the place to shop for fashion,” he added.
Amazon is now one of the top 10 fashion retailers in the UK and stocks over nine million products- equivalent to 10 London Westfield shopping centres.
Bucher also said the internet is beginning to change the way retailers think about pricing and segmentation as online shopping has made differences across different territories transparent.
“Brands need to take advantage of the great advantages the internet can offer in terms of export but pricing across Europe needs to be more consistent. The same goes for product segmentation. There is no such thing as a certain product for a particular country anymore,” he added.
