American Vogue editor in chief Anna Wintour has been made a dame for services to fashion and journalism in the New Year’s Honours list for 2017. She already held an OBE.
The 2017 list also includes accessories designer Anya Hindmarch, who has received a CBE for services to fashion, and retail veteran Don McCarthy, who has received a CBE for services to business and philanthropy.
Victoria Beckham has received an OBE for services to the fashion industry, as has Mint Velvet co-founder and chief executive Liz Houghton for services to business and charity. Rosemary Greenlees, executive director of The Crafts Council, has received an OBE for services to the craft sector.
Those receiving MBEs include Debra Bourne, co-founder of All Walks Beyond the Catwalk for services to diversity in the fashion industry and Terry Jones, founder of i-D magazine.
Angela Walters, programme director for fashion at Central Saint Martins, Simon Ward, formerly chief operating officer of the British Fashion Council, and Imran Amed, founder and chief executive officer of Business of Fashion, also received MBEs.
