Fashion sales down at John Lewis

Fashion sales at John Lewis slipped 3% for the week to 8 September, the retailer’s latest figures show.

Shoe sales were up 8% and the department store said there had been “very strong demand” for its new John Lewis & Partners collection, which it unveiled earlier this month.

Total sales at John Lewis were down 3.5% compared with the same week last year.

John Lewis & Partners, an 800-piece womenswear collection, has been described as the retailer’s “most significant fashion investment to date”. Key pieces include outerwear, cashmere and leather bags.
