John Lewis reported a 10.5% jump in fashion sales for the week to July 18, the final week of clearance at the department store.
Accessories in both the menswear and womenswear divisions had double digit increases, while total online sales were up 22.6%.
Sales across the department store were up 6.9% for the week to £80.08m.
Barry Matheson, director of retail services at John Lewis, said: “A good week for John Lewis, with strong trade throughout the week across both channels. Online continued to deliver strong year-on-year growth, posting a healthy gain of 22.6%. Good availability and performance from the clearance assortments sat at the heart of that result. This was complemented by an improved performance in shops, up 0.7% against last year. As we move out of the final week of clearance the focus now is very much on newness and bringing new product and inspiration to the fore.”
