Sales of fashion at John Lewis jumped up by 8.9% year on year for the week to April 30, as the retailer price-matched House of Fraser’s brand promotion.

Womenswear sales were up 12.2% year on year. However, the retailer said it was a “week of two halves” as cold weather products sold well at the beginning and summer ranges did well as the weather improved towards the end of the week.
Total sales were up 9.9% year on year to £84.6m.
