Fashion sales slide at John Lewis following Black Friday surge

John Lewis reported a 2.3% dip in fashion sales for the week to 3 December, as sales dropped off after the Black Friday peak.

Total sales were up 3.9% on last year to £172.11m.

Mark Felix, online trade director at John Lewis said: “The week was characterised by the final Black Friday promotions on Sunday and Monday driving sales. There were fewer promotions outside of the Black Friday period compared with last year, which influenced fashion and home sales this week.”
