Fashion sales slip on UK high street

Like-for-like fashion sales on the UK high street fell by 2.5% this week compared with the same period last year.

Accountancy firm BDO’s Sales Tracker showed like-for-like sales across all retail categories were up 0.33%, compared with a 4% drop during the same week last year.

Online sales were highlighted as the star performer, remaining “very strong” across all categories.

Cold weather led to a 0.5% drop in overall footfall. Shopping centres showed a 2.9% decrease in footfall, and retail parks 1.1%. However, footfall on the high street rose by 1%.
