Fashion sales star player at John Lewis

Fashion sales led the charge in a solid set of weekly trading figures at John Lewis last week according to the group's figures.

Fashion sales were up 20.6% with late Back-to-School sales along with strong girlswear and women's footwear sales being key contributors to a positive week for the department store group.

Overall sales at the partnership, which includes grocer Waitrose, were up 7.5% to £51.4m for the week ending September 13.

Dan Knowles, director, selling operations said in the retailer’s weekly statement that the department store’s fashion buying teams success was "on the back of excellent new ranges and was a performance to be proud of."
