John Lewis increased fashion sales by 10% for the week to June 6, with promotional activity helping both women’s accessories and beauty achieve a 14% rise.
The group’s total weekly sales reached £73.68m, up 4.1% year-on-year, as the weather drove a strong start but sales cooled as temperatures rose, resulting in a quieter Friday and Saturday.
Online sales were up by 21%. The Exeter, Chichester and Southampton stores all performed well.
Fashion, up 10.3% during the week, again outperformed home (+3.1%) and electricals and home technology (-0.4%).
