Fashion store occupancy dips

Fashion and general clothing saw a 1.1% drop in store occupancies in the first six months of 2017, research from the Local Data Company has shown.

Footwear and gifting showed the biggest drops in occupancies, down 2.7% and 1.3% respectively.

Multiples continued to close at a faster rate than independents.

The overall proportion of vacant retail and leisure units in the UK rose for the first time in two years, the data showed.
