Fashion stores slow to embrace web shopping

Two-thirds of footwear and fashion retailers are losing out on the £1.2 billion online clothing market by not having a transactional website, according to multi-channel consultancy Zendor. It described the fashion and footwear sector as one of the slowest to embrace online retailing. In its research, which tracked 130 of the UK's top retailers, Zendor found that the number of fashion and footwear stores that had launched transactional websites had increased from 23% in 2003 to 39% in 2006.
