Fidler and Herz join Bally

Former Aquascutum designers Graeme Fidler and Michael Herz have been appointed creative directors of luxury accessories brand Bally.

Fidler and Herz will complete their first collection for Bally for autumn 2011.

Bally chief executive Berndt Hauptkorn told WWD that the designers will oversee all creative aspects of the label with the remit of making the Swiss label “modern, contemporary and cool — with a northern European vibe”.

“They will be 100% committed to Bally,” said Hauptkorn.

Outgoing Bally creative director Brian Atwood will leave the label.

Fidler and Herz resigned as head of menswear and womenswear respectively at British heritage label Aquascutum earlier this month.

Bally, which has about 700 doors worldwide, will remain focused on footwear said Hauptkorn.

“Shoes are part of our heritage and they are our perceived strength, and from that basis we can grow into other categories,” he said.

About 50% of the business is generated by footwear, with the remainder in accessories and ready-to-wear.
