Field blasts city firms for sending stand-ins to BHS hearings

Frank Field MP, chairman of the work and pensions committee, has blasted two city firms for sending stand-ins to hearings over the collapse of BHS.

Field said he has started proceedings to resummons two executives from law firm Olswang and accountant Grant Thornton, which advised Retail Acquisitions on its purchase of the department store chain last year, reported The Times.

David Roberts of Olswang and Paul Martin of Grant Thornton were due in front of the parliamentary committee but sent “juniors who at the very best know very little about the deal”, said Field.

The committee has the power to call anyone involved in the collapse of BHS to give evidence.
