Learn more reports brisk Christmas trading

Lingerie etailer has reported a 32% increase in trading against last Christmas as the popularity of online shopping continues to rise.

The company said that the increase in sales was partly attributable to shoppers feeling more confident when using the online medium.

Figleaves added in a statement that sales of bra sets for larger cups sizes were strong, with metallics proving to be a key fashion trend. More expensive items had also been selling well and men's underwear was a key performer.

Chief operating officer Robin Terrell said: "We are finishing the year on an extremely strong note and are expecting our buoyant trading to continue into 2008. We are introducing our spring 08 fashion lingerie offer early and expect our Valentines business to show a major uplift over last year. We have also brought in our increased swim collections early in response to customer demand."

On the back of strong trading the company has limited its promotional activity on Christmas product to planned supplier funded offers, 10% off offers and free shipping in selected emails.

The Figleaves Sale kicks in on December 21 after the Christmas standard delivery cut off.
