Eveningwear brand Galvan has launched its first bridal range.
The full 25-piece range from the London-based label is available in its Notting Hill store, its New York studio – which opens next month – and online. Nine styles will also be available from Net-a-Porter.
Prices range from £825 for satin slip dresses to £5,995 for wedding gowns, and the made-to-order bridal styles take around eight to 12 weeks to deliver. Drapers spoke to the brand’s four founders to find out more about the collection.
Why have you decided to launch a bridal range?
Sola Harrison: We wanted to launch a bridal collection for the same reason that we launched the Galvan brand – we simply could not find anything in the market that we wanted to wear ourselves, and in the past three years we’ve had three Galvan founder weddings to design for. We’ve also have had so many requests for custom bridal pieces from our existing clients, so we knew that others felt the same way. Customers will be able to browse the full collection in our Notting Hill studio as well as the New York studio, and they can also explore the range online.
How would you describe the collection? What are the key pieces?
Anna-Christin Haas: Styles include the lace dresses that Katherine and I wore for our own wedding ceremonies, as well as several dresses I have designed for friends and family. Katherine wore the Sevilla gown to her wedding. It’s a lace and embroidered style with elegant three-quarter-length sleeves and a dramatic scalloped skirt, and I wore the Positano gown made from sheer tulle and embroidered lace with a silk lining. My wedding dress was also embellished with luxurious silk tassels and hand-embroidered beads. The collection includes lace gowns that are positioned next to sleek jumpsuits, minimalist tunics and trousers, and sparkly party dresses. We’ve made sure that styles can be worn again for years to come, especially with the less-formal pieces.
Carolyn Hodler: All of our styles will be made to order but we will also have a small selection of our signature styles that will be available for immediate purchase.
Why have you selected Net-a-Porter as your launch partner?
Katherine Holmgren: Net-a-Porter has quickly become one of Galvan’s most important commercial partners, and bridal is one of its fastest-growing categories. It seemed like a natural partnership given its global reach.
