First look: Givenchy opens first UK store

Givenchy has opened its first UK store, at 165 New Bond Street in London’s Mayfair.

The store occupies two 18th-century buildings and the adjacent Victorian building at 23 Albemarle Street.

Original features, including a bow window, a period fireplace and curved windows, have been reinstated and enhanced with subtle lighting.

Givenchy womenswear and jewellery collections are housed in an area with pink decor. A red staircase leads to the Essential Room, which is home to women’s ready-to-wear, shoes and eveningwear.

A long, pink podium divides the space. Geometric tiles in the “optical” room form a bridge between the women’s and men’s sections.

Entrances on Grafton Street and Albemarle Street lead to the menswear area, which has light green walls and a wooden ceiling.
