First store for ethical etailer

Ethical footwear and accessories etailer Bourgeois Boheme is poised to open its first store next month, in Richmond upon Thames in south-west London.
The etailer, which specialises in vegetarian footwear, said it was responding to demand for a bricks-and-mortar store, having built a dedicated online and mail order customer base.

The shop will stock the retailer’s own brand, alongside ethically sourced products from other companies. The range will include footwear, bags, wallets and belts for men and women.

Bourgeois Boheme founder and director Alicia Lai said: “Unless you shop online, vegetarian footwear is difficult to find: it’s a dismal choice of either low-quality and environmentally challenging shoes or Stella McCartney designs – gorgeous fashion, but beyond the pocket of many vegetarians.”

The store will open on May 17, a few days before the start of National Vegetarian Week.

Lai said: “Our shop is a first step towards our dream of having boutiques in the world’s fashion capitals.”
