First stores closed as La Senza administration starts to bite

Six La Senza stores have been shut, resulting in 75 members of staff being made redundant, two weeks into the lingerie retailer’s administration.

Stores in Chelmsford, Huddersfield, Lincoln, Sheffield, Norwich and Wakefield were closed last weekend by administrators PricewaterhouseCooper. These are the first closures since the company entered administration on July 1.

Two outlets for yoghurt shop Pinkberry – one in Bluewater and a concession in Selfridges London – have also been shut.

Robert Moran, joint administrator at PwC, said: “Regrettably, despite management’s efforts, it has proven unprofitable to continue to trade these stores which has resulted in the loss of 75 jobs. The company and the administrators are making every effort to support staff at this difficult time.”

There are now 49 La Senza and one Pinkberry stores remaining in England, Wales and Scotland.
