Five Dubai malls for Nakheel Retail

Middle East developer Nakheel Retail Shopping Malls plans to develop 13 million sq ft of new retail space across five separate ‘mega malls’ in Dubai over the next decade.
It will open centres in Palm Jumeirah, Palm Deira, Ibn Battuta Mall Phase II, India Mart and Great Mall Dubai.

Nakheel Retail’s existing portfolio includes more than two million square feet at the existing Ibn Battuta Mall, and the largest Chinese wholesale trade centre outside of China, Dubai Dragon Mart.

Nakheel said it is aiming for its retail division, Nakheel Retail, to become the largest shopping mall developer in the Middle East by 2012, with plans to become the largest in the world by 2018.

Nakheel Retail group managing director Graham Dreverman said: “With the success of Ibn Battuta and Dragon Mart, we are in a position to expand the shopping malls division across Dubai to meet the demands of a growing population.”

Nakheel Retail operates a mix of franchises and joint ventures with brands including Sports Direct, Nike and Joe Bloggs.
