Second stores for US footwear labels

US footwear giants Skechers and Steve Madden are both gearing up to open their second UK stores before the crucial Christmas period.

Women’s fashion footwear brand Steve Madden is to unveil a store on Neal Street in London’s Covent Garden at the end of November, while Skechers will open a new-look concept store on James Street, also in Covent Garden, on December 18.

The 500 sq ft Steve Madden store will be the first permanent UK standalone store for the brand following the opening of a pop-up store on London’s Broadwick Street, off Carnaby Street, earlier this year.

Skechers’ 3,000 sq ft site will be its second full-price UK store and will feature the men’s, women’s and kids’ brand’s new storefit, which includes colour-changing LED lighting. Its London Oxford Street store will also get the new shopfit in December.

Skechers also operates three stores in McArthurGlen designer outlets in Cheshire Oaks, Ashford in Kent and Livingston, Scotland, with a fourth set to open next year in York.

Two more Skechers stores are expected to open next year.
