Former BHS owner Dominic Chappell arrested over tax investigation

Former BHS owner Dominic Chappell has reportedly been arrested for failing to pay £500,000 in tax on money he took from the collapsed retailer.

Chappell is understood to have been arrested in a dawn raid at his home in Blandford, Dorset.

A spokeswomen from HMRC said she could not comment on specific cases but confirmed a 49 year old business man had been arrested earlier this month.

The news comes weeks after the Pensions Regulator began enforcement action into Sir Philip Green in a bid to end the ongoing pensions crisis surrounding BHS.Both Green and Chappell were sent warning notices as the regulator seeks redress for 20,000 BHS pension scheme members.

In a statement, Green said he had provided the regulator with a ‘credible and substantial’ proposal.
