Former Drapers editor appointed director general of UKFT

Eric Musgrave, the former editorial director of Drapers magazine, has been appointed director general of the UK Fashion and Textile Association (UKFT).

UKFT was formed as an umbrella group for supplier trade bodies earlier this year and represents the interests of various fashion and textiles manufacturers and suppliers.

Musgrave, who has also worked on various fashion tradeshows during his 30-year career in the fashion indsutry, will take up his position on January 4. He succeeds John Wilson, who will retire in the summer.

Adam Mansell, an executive at UKFT, has been promoted to deputy director.

Peter Lucas, chairman of UKFT, said: “I am absolutely delighted that Eric has taken this position. He has been involved in the fashion industry since 1980 and has an exceptionally broad knowledge of all aspects of the sector. He will make a worthy successor to John, who has contributed so much to the industry and its associations during a long and distinguished career.”

“This is a thrilling opportunity for me,” added Musgrave. “Almost my entire career has been spent in fashion and textiles and my passion for the sector is stronger than ever.”

  • A great appointment for the UKFT. Eric will lead the body with aplomb and perhaps to could also try to better engage the young fashion market?

  • I would like to know how Peter Lucas can chair an organisation that claims to represent the interests of Suppliers and Manufactorers, when he is applying an unnessasary CVA on his Retail business in order to renegotiate the rents on his estate. He should spent less time writing articles for Drapers and sitting on panels and more time on the due dilligence of his acquisitions. He has been banging on for months about credit insurance and then impliments the very process to undermine the cause. Hypocrite! No wonder we cant get insurance! Mr Lucas should decide which side he is on!
