Former JJB boss guilty of £1m fraud

The former chief executive of JJB Sports, Christopher Ronnie, has been found guilty of accepting more than £1m in backhanders from suppliers.

Ronnie was convicted in court today of the fraud which related to his time at the sportswear retailer in 2007 and 2008.

He did not give evidence in his own defence during the trial at Southwark Crown Court.

David Ball, an accountant and joint beneficial owner of JJB supplier Fashion & Sport, and David Barrington who is understood to have worked for another supplier, have been convicted of perverting the course of justice, as they helped Ronnie to conceal the fraud.

The three men will be sentenced on December 12.
