Alastair Miller, the former chief financial officer of New Look, has joined property investor and shopping centre owner NewRiver Retail as a non-executive director with immediate effect.
Miller joined New Look as chief financial officer in 2000 and spent 14 years with the business, as part of the team that took the retailer private in 2004. He left in April 2014.
He has joined NewRiver as part of its planned move to a premium listing on the main stock market in July this year.
He has been appointed to all board committees, including audit, remuneration and nomination.
Andrew Walker has stepped down from the board as non-executive director after five years to concentrate on other interests. Nick Sewell has also decided to step down from the board as an executive director to focus on NewRiver’s acquisition and investment strategy but will remain a full-time member of its executive committee.
NewRiver was formed in 2009 and owns 29 shopping centres in the UK including The Martlets in Burgess Hill, HillStreet shopping centre in Middlesbrough, Cornmill shopping centre in Darlington, The Ridings shopping centre in Wakefield and The Beacon Centre in North Shields. It also owns 22 retail warehouses, 14 high street assets and 360 pubs.
