Scottish cashmere and woollen brand Johnstons of Elgin has appointed former Richemont fashion and accessories chief executive Marty Wikstrom as non-executive director.
Wikstrom, who spent eight years at the luxury group between 2005 and 2013, is currently chairman of footwear business Harry’s of London and a director of department store Fortnum & Mason.
She was also Harrods’ first female managing director between 2001 and 2003 and held numerous positions at US retailer Nordstrom between 1981 and 1999, rising from sales person to president.
In her new position, Wikstrom will develop Johnstons of Elgin’s own branded collections as well as working with the luxury businesses it currently supplies.
Jenny Houldsworth has also been appointed to the board as a non-executive director.
Houldsworth has worked within several departments at Johnstons of Elgin over the years, most recently within the HR department where she is responsible for learning and development for nearly 900 staff. She is also the grantee of the company’s royal warrant for estate tweeds from the Prince of Wales.
Both appointments were made at a board meeting held on May 5, with immediate effect.
