Former Selfridges marketing director buys innovation site Springwise

Former Anthropologie Europe managing director and Selfridges marketing director James Bidwell has bought the majority shareholding of Springwise from its founder Reinier Evers.

Bidwelll becomes chairman and chief executive of the start-up and innovation ideas business, while current managing director Chris Kreinczes becomes editor and creative director.

Former Arcadia brand finance director Camilla Wilks has joined as chief financial officer.

Springwise was established in 2002 and boasts a network of over 18,000 users who spot new business ideas globally.

“Established over 12 years ago, we have a rich and fertile body of insight and data, as well as being truly global with reach across over 170 countries,” said Bidwell. “Interest in start-up businesses and the entrepreneurs behind them has never been greater. Springwise is uniquely positioned to capitalise on this growing movement as we develop our own business concept and build our global profile.”

Evers, who has retained a minority shareholding in Springwise, also founded consumer trends firm Trendwatching.com and has other business interests.
