Fran & Jane makes UK retail debut

Irish contemporary womenswear mini-chain Fran & Jane will open its first UK store stocking its eponymous brand on King’s Road in west London on Friday.

Dublin-based Fran & Jane, which has 12 stores and two concessions in the Republic of Ireland and 10 UK wholesale stockists, wants a second boutique and 50 wholesale accounts within the M25 area by the end of the year with a nationwide retail roll-out set for completion in 2015.

Fran & Jane marketing manager Elaine Sheahan said: “Despite the difficult market in Ireland we’re trading well. We are confident we have something unique to offer the UK market.”

Established in 2002, Fran & Jane is a trend-led, cross-generational collection, with frequent in-season drops. In Ireland, Fran & Jane stocks its contemporary womenswear brand Regine, which was established by the family-run business in 1974, as well as brands such as contemporary womenswear brand Tara Jarmon and casual jerseywear brand Charli. If successful in the UK, Fran & Jane will bring its brand mix to its UK stores.

Sheahan said: “We are pitching ourselves against retailers like Whistles and Reiss. Our designs stand the test of time, and with our customers more aware of what they’re spending their money on, this is becoming very important.”
