Franchise director leaves New Look

New Look franchise director Alex Cara is the latest high-profile departure from the fast-fashion chain as its new management refocuses on the business’s core UK operations.

Cara, who joined New Look in October 2009 from Spanish retail group Cortefiel, left earlier this month. It follows the appointment in April of ex-Matalan chief executive Alistair McGeorge as chairman.

Group development director Nigel Darwin has been promoted to managing director of international partnerships, with responsibility for franchise operations.

New Look revealed last week that the previous year’s pre-tax profits of £36m were wiped out at the 1,000-store business in the year to March 26, 2010.
