French Connection signs new ad agency for spring 08 campaigns

French Connection is understood to have hired a new creative agency for spring 08. A source close to the company said it had brought in US agency Baron & Baron to oversee the future direction of its ad campaigns.
Baron & Baron is famed for designing the first CKOne perfume bottle and already has a contract with French Connection-owned Nicole Farhi, as well as designer brands such as Burberry and Balenciaga.

French Connection boss Stephen Marks hired Mary Portas’s Yellow Door agency three seasons ago to revive the brand after a backlash against its overused FCUK logos. She ditched the slogan to focus on more upmarket, product-led imagery.

It is believed that the high street retailer will continue to work with Portas’s agency, but the details of the arrangement are not known.

A French Connection spokeswoman would not confirm the appointment of Baron & Baron, but said that the contract with Yellow Door was still in place. “We work on a project-by-project basis so the contract has not ended,” she said.
