French Sole makes tracks overseas and mulls sub-brand

British ballet pump brand French Sole is ramping up its international retail efforts with concessions or franchise stores mooted for Beijing, the Philippines and Vancouver in the next 12 months.

Kicking off the expansion is the opening this weekend of a second concession in Beijing, in the Yansha Youyi Shopping City complex. A third in Beijing will open at Shin Kong Place in January. French Sole already has a concession at Galeries Lafayette’s Beijing store.

The company’s second store in the Philippines will open next March and it is in negotiations to open a franchise store in Vancouver in 2015.

French Sole is also considering the launch of a younger sub-brand to widen its appeal in the UK and US. Drapers understands the line could include signature ballerina pumps as well as boots and accessories including bags and belts. The latter are not currently included in the mainline.

Prices for the sub-brand would sit below the mainline, with retail prices between £40 and £80. The unnamed line is expected to be ready for autumn 15.

French Sole has more than 200 stockists wordwide. It has four stores in London - on Brook Street, Ellis Street, King’s Road and Marylebone Lane - one store in Leeds, an outlet store at its head office in Swallowfield, Berkshire, and a concession at department store Rossiters of Bath.
