Fresh strikes at Arcadia warehouses

A group of workers employed by an agency at two Arcadia warehouses will go on strike for two days later this month over claims they should be paid a higher wage.

Members of the GMB trade union who work at the sites in Leeds and Solihull will walk out on 24 and 26 February. They are employed through the agency Spectrum, a division of DHL.

GMB said the workers’ request to be paid the voluntary higher living wage set by the Living Wage Foundation – currently set at £8.45/hour – have “fallen on deaf ears”.

Workers at the Solihull site have already been on strike, first on Cyber Monday last year (28 November) and again in December, over the same issue.

Drapers understands there was no impact on trading or customer orders.

Arcadia declined to comment on the strikes.
