Friars Walk development opens in Newport

Friars Walk, the £90m retail and leisure complex in Newport, Wales, opened today anchored by a 95,000 sq ft Debenhams and housing retailers including Next, H&M, Topshop, New Look and River Island.

The 390,000 sq ft city centre regeneration scheme includes 30 new stores, around 12 restaurants and an eight-screen Cineworld multiplex cinema, as well as 350 parking spaces and a new bus station interchange.

The development, led by Queensberry Real Estate, is part of an extensive programme of regeneration taking place in Newport.

Read why Queensberry commercial director and co-founder Stuart Harris believes the success of a destination is more than just in the retail mix here.
