A longstanding rumour on Savile row has been confirmed today as Fung Capital, the private investment company run by Li & Fung owners, has bought British heritage brand Kilgour.
The deal, which is understood to have taken place in the last few weeks, will see the menswear brand joining Hardy Amies to form part of a new portfolio called Savile Row Brands. The company is currently in negotiations to acquire a third Savile Row tailor in the next six months.
The brands will be sold through wholesale accounts at high end department stores across the globe, including Harvey Nichols, Lane Crawford, Isetan, Mr Porter and Bloomingdale’s, as well as in standalone stores on the iconic London street.
Kilgour, which Fung Capital purchased from Dubai-based JMH Group in a private transaction, will open a newly refurbished unit on the row in June.
Hardy Amies will also open a new shop on Savile Row in June under design director Mehmet Ali.
In Europe, Fung Capital also owns brands such as Sonia Rykiel, Robert Clergerie and Delvaux.
