Further store closures at Bank

Troubled young fashion retailer Bank will have closed another seven stores by March 29.

The shops closing their doors for the final time this week are Edinburgh, Beckton in east London, Redditch in Worcestershire, Wigan, Walsall, Ayr and Newport in south Wales.

Eleven branches closed earlier this month and 30 in February. The remaining 36 will continue to trade, as administrators from Deloitte search for a buyer.

Originally, Deloitte said all 84 stores would stay open until the business was sold.

Several parties, including Little Mistress, Bestseller, Quiz and Footasylum have previously expressed an interest in snapping up all or some of the properties. Deloitte and estate agent Savills, which is handling the sale of Bank’s property portfolio, declined to comment on whether any deals have been signed.

Bank was sold by JD Sports Fashion to a subsidiary of Hilco Capital at the end of November last year. It filed for administration on January 5.
