G-Star will bring its men’s and women’s footwear business in-house from November 1, ending its nine-year relationship with licensee Overland Brands.
The Dutch denim brand is to create a separate division for footwear and a new design team.
From June, it will assume full responsibility for selling the product and will design, develop and distribute the footwear range from autumn 16.
“The transition plan is very thorough and ensures the commitment to the brand and to G-Star footwear customers,” the company said.
“G-Star appreciates Overland’s valuable contributions to the brand over their nine years of collaboration, and looks forward to continuing its investment in the brand through the evolution of their footwear category.”
London-based Overland specialises in the design, sourcing and wholesale of men’s and women’s branded footwear and has been a licensee for CAT Footwear, Paul Smith, Frye and Wolverine.
In July last year Overland signed a multi-year deal with US licensing group G-III Apparel Group to sell men’s, women’s and children’s footwear in Europe from its GH Bass stable of brands, which comprise GH Bass, Bass and Bass Weejuns.
