John Galliano has lost his wrongful dismissal case against his former employers.
He was ordered to pay Christian Dior and John Galliano (the label) a symbolic €1 each as the court threw out his damages claim.
He had asked for damages ranging between €2.4m (£1.8m) and €13m (£10.2m), depending on how the court appraised his dismissal, his lawyer Chantal Giraud-van Gaver of Coblence & Associés told WWD.
Galliano reportedly told the hearing that bosses at Dior and the Galliano fashion house were fully aware of his addiction to alcohol and medication, which he blamed for his behaviour.
He was appointed as the creative director of Paris fashion house Maison Martin Margiela at the start of October.
